Info

This project to renovate a stately building in the Salesas neighbourhood of Madrid represents the balance between historic conservation and contemporary functionality.

The original 19th c. structure has been meticulously preserved, restoring elements such as roofs, carpentry, and hardware, in an effort to recover the historic value lost over the years. At the same time, contemporary design elements and installations, subtly integrated to respect the unique architectural elements of the original home, guarantee the necessary comfort required by today’s users.

The inclusion of custom floors, made of wide, solid-wood planks of Douglas fir, in addition to contemporary features designed and handcrafted to measure, create a delicate, timeless space where the classic and the contemporary coexist in harmony.

The result is a home with unique character that respects the original architecture and balances the needs of contemporary life through the careful design of the solutions implemented and the materials selected.
