This country house is located on a downward sloping hillside near the Despeñaperros Natural Park, beside the Sierra Morena mountain range, which separates the Central Plateau from the Guadalquivir depression.

Given its privileged and secluded location, the project is based on the creation of interior spaces and platforms that overlook the surrounding landscape and quality exterior spaces that are protected and sheltered from the elements. This house continually thrives on this connection between the interior and the exterior and is intended to facilitate rest and relaxation, like a refuge.

To that end, construction is based on a continuous structural rhythm that modulates the building by creating large-scale volumes that correspond to the spatial needs of the main rooms.

The use of renewable energy, the thermal inertia of the thick walls, the size of the openings that frame the vistas, and the shade created by the successive porches and trees, minimise sunlight to the building and enhance the comfort of the home for year-round enjoyment, while promoting self-sufficiency and harmony with nature.

The façade is clad in a monochromatic stone treatment, inspired by local clay soil. Thus, the house replicates a natural construction emerging from the land itself, blurring the line between the natural and the built environment.
